It is I.... Freddy! About me

My name is Freddy Willemsma and I'm 26 years old. I'm single and I live on my own in Drachten. This is also the place where I was born on February 12th 1979 during a very heavy winter with a lot of snow. I wanted to become a truckdriver from when I was very young. (Probably you have to blame
Henk Wijngaard for that (He's a Dutch trucksong singer)) I grew up in a family of 5 people. Those people were: My father Wieger Willemsma, my mother Dieuwke Willemsma-de Jong, my brother Johan Willemsma who died in September 2000 at the age of only 29, my sister Wietske Willemsma and then there was me. My father has been a truckdriver too, but that was before I was born. I only know him as being a taxidriver for the company Kijlstra.

Where I grew up

I grew up in Drachten in the province Friesland and I still live there. Drachten is quite a big place with approximately 43000 people, but it's not a real city but just a village. Drachten is also the mainplace of the municipal
Smallingerland which includes 13 other villages where approximately 10000 people live.

Where the heck is Drachten?

About my education

After the primary school which was called 'Prinses Margriet School', I went to the secondary school called 'De Werf' (later Liudger). This was a technical school and I chose electricity as my education. I really liked electricity and electronics. After 4 years I got my diploma and then I went to another school (MBO-college de 'Friese Poort') and I chose for electronics. I did get my diploma of this education in 1999. At that time I was really tired of going to school every day, so I ignored my teacher's advise to go to the Higher Technical School. Instead, I started to work and then I followed an education for truckdrivers at driving-school
Berend Knol in the evenings. I succeeded to get all the documents I needed to drive a truck in early 2001.

Places I have worked

After finishing school, I immediately started to work. At first I continued to work at the company where I already worked during my holidays of school. This was at a place where people with a mental handicap lived. I was driving an electrical car and I had to deliver the food and the mail to all the buildings on the terrain. I've done that work for 8 months. Then I started to work for a company called
Verkley in the telecommunication business. It was my job to make UTP-networks, phone-networks, cable-television, cable-internet, fibre-optics and so on. I've done that for almost one and a half year and then I got fired because there was no more work in the telecommunication business. At that time I started to work as a truckdriver for an exployment agency and that's how I started to work for the Dutch mailing company 'PTT-post'. I had to drive with the mail between the post-offices and the headoffice in Zwolle. I really enjoyed to work here, but at last they could not give me enough work for a whole week. Then I started to work for a laundry called 'De Blinde' where I had to drive with all the dirty clothes and things from nursing-homes, restaurants and so on. After two months I did quit this job because I didn't like it. Since December 2001 I started working for a transporting-company called Portena. I used to deliver almost everything that you can think of, but mainly components for central heating systems. I was driving almost anywhere in Holland. Since May 2004, I started to work in the telecommunication again for a company called: Sietsma Technisch Personeel.

My hobby's

I'm very interested in telecommunication. Especially in the wireless communication. That's why hamradio is probably my biggest hobby. I don't talk that much via the transceiver, but I like to do packetradio, APRS, RTTY, SSTV, listen to other stations, work via the International Space Station and satellites and to make or modify transceivers. You can read more about that hobby somewhere else on this site. I also like electronics, but I don't have much time for that anymore. Since Oktober 2000 I also started to do some family-research about the surname Willemsma. I also like to listen to music. I like very different styles of music, but I really like the modern Country & Western music from people like Shania Twain, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks and so on. I'm also a member of the
Ilse Delange fanclub. Ilse DeLange is a very good Dutch (Country)singer. I'm also a big fan of Alan Jackson. He's a very good countrysinger with beautiful songs.
